LED Cantrail Lights
The days of trains being out of service with Cantrail light bulb failure are numbered. The latest LED technology is set to revolutionise reliability figures for train indicators.
Pickersgill-Kaye Limited have developed a series of robust Cantrail lights designed for outstanding performance and low whole life costs.
Background
In 1992 Pickersgill-Kaye Limited undertook the development of a secondary locking system for the NSE fleet of slam door EMU's.
The specification required that a bodyside amber light to indicate the system status be provided. Such lights are standard on power door stock but the overall system reliability targets could not be met with traditional filament bulb units nor with any other available product.
We therefore initiated the development of a suitable alternative product.
In order to ensure fitness for market, we undertook extensive consultation with railway engineers, maintenance staff, operations management and end users. This was followed by rigorous testing to all current railway standards and finally by field trials on a Class 421 EMU.
The Pickersgill-Kaye Limited Cantrail Light was the outcome of this meticulous development process and has received such positive feedback that the unit is now in production and we can offer a range of lights for all vehicle types, both for new build and retrofit.
