Locomotive Door Locks for Deutsche Bahn

In 1997 Pickersgill-Kaye first started talking to City Sheet Metal Productions (Coventry) Ltd and ADtranz in Germany about supplying door locks for the locomotives being built in Kassel. Since then we have supplied the Cab and Machine Room Door Locks for the Deutsche Bahn class 101 and 145 locomotives, as well the Rheinbraun Mining locomotives. We are now starting manufacture of the door locks for the new MTAB I-Ore-118 locomotives being built by ADtranz for the Swedish/Norwegian iron ore line.

These orders have followed an exhaustive design and testing programme to ensure the locks being supplied will last the life of the vehicles, up to 40 years. Material selection of key components has reflected this; handles, knobs and latch bolts are made from stainless steel and critical components are tufftrided AB1, (a nitro-carburising process) to improve wear and corrosion resistance.
